Class Descriptions

Ann’s classes sync with the seasons, warming up the body according to the current environment. Whether it’s contemporary Pilates mixed with Yoga, or contemporary Yoga mixed with Pilates, Ann’s wisdom, humor and experience makes each class both challenging and accessible. Props are incorporated in class to deepen our movement practice.

Pilates Mat

40 Minutes

Ann’s Pilates mat classes emphasize proper postural alignment, core strength, and muscle balance (super important as we age gracefully). A sequence of 7-10 exercises is practiced at least twice each class to promote mastery. Props like foam rollers, balls, rings, and bands will be used to enhance your mind-body connection and take it up a notch. This class will stretch you, strengthening you, and give you a sense of tallness as you walk out into the world. 80% Core Strengthening 20% Stretching. Pilates Mat classes are suitable for all levels!

Yoga-Pilates

60 Minutes

Ann’s hybrid Yoga classes start off with a silent and thoughtful adjustment of the mind, followed by a mix of Hatha postures or poses. Ann has studied and developed her style of teaching to include all her loves of the yogi styles by B.K.S. Iyengar, Bikram, and Kundalini. Her class flow is sequences of these poses that aim to strengthen and open the body. She then sprinkles in Pilates, emphasizing proper postural alignment, core strength, and muscle balance. Props like the Yoga Block, Yoga Strap and Foam Rollers are used in class. Suitable for all levels.

Yoga with Foam Roller

60 Minutes

Sometimes we need to work on myofascial release using a foam roller. We will be starting the class with a meditation to center our minds, body and relax the system. We’ll then warm up the body with some basic yoga poses and then incorporate the foam roller by rolling out muscle groups such as the bottoms of your feet, IT Band, opening the thoracic spine, releasing tension in the glutes and more. Some of the benefits of using the foam roller are increased range of motion, increased blood flow to specific areas, reduced pain and stiffness, increased hydration through compression and release, elimination of toxins, improved nerve signal flow and break up of trigger points.

Yoga with YogaTuneUp balls

60 Minutes

Ann’s signature yoga class is a blend of yoga poses and stretches for flexibility but sometimes we need to work on myofascial release using YogaTuneUp Balls. We will be starting the class with a meditation to center our minds, body and relax the system, then warming up the body with some basic yoga poses.  Each class using the YogaTuneUp balls will focus on a specific area of the body.  We might focus on the lower back, or upper back, feet, hands, arms, or have a class that works out the fascia of the entire body.  I like to call this class an exploration of your body, finding out what is tight and where you need to massage using the balls to open up. SO much fun - and so much release!
